Dissimilar Plastics
I started this experiment about 45 days ago, after I had remembered a PEZHeads
list post talking about melt marks. I thought I would give this a try, and here
are the results.
I wrapped 3 "Mr. Twister" fishing lures (I used these
as they are the closest thing I could
get to what I believe caused many melt marks on older PEZ, "Creepy Crawlers".
These
"Creepy Crawlers" were plastic bugs...you would squeeze this liquid
goo into metal molds,
then stick the molds into an "oven". They would bake into rubbery
bugs, not unlike the "Mr. Twister"
fishing lures that are currently available where fine fishing equipment is sold.
Here is
what "Mr. Twisters" look like:

Look at what only 45 days of contact with one of these "PEZ killers" will do!:

The two pictures above are not that bad. They look like many of the melts many of us have come across.

Now here is a couple of nasty melts! In fact, the one on the
right, if you look closely, you can
read the "Mr. Twister" logo "burned" right into the PEZ!
This is where the tail of the Mr. Twister
laid. What a mess!

Here is my favorite. This is the "body" of the Mr. Twister. It goes clear through to the inner sleeve.

Here is the back and front of this poor little Bee. Insane!
For information
purposes, the Mr. Twisters that I removed from this PEZ are the same ones
that are in the first picture. They did not melt or distort. Just the PEZ. One
other thing of interest, is that the antennea of the Bee PEZ were not affected.
