PEZ Packaging Styles

This

would have been rubber banded to the dispenser with a
couple packs of candy.

One
of the earliest PEZ dispensers were the Full Body Santas
and Space Troopers. Although they did not sell well
originally, and were not very cost effective for PEZ
to manufacture (they had more parts to mold and required
significant gluing of the seams), they have become a
favorite for PEZ collectors. These dispensers were sold
in "honeycombed" counter display boxes, as
pictured above.

This
picture shows six 50's Space Guns rubber banded onto a
cardboard display card. In addition to being sold separately,
the 50's Space Gun was also given away by Cocoa Marsh,
although they were not a planned premium. This display
card shows these guns with a .49¢ price tag. However,
the 50's Space Guns did not sell very well, and their
price was dropped to .25¢.

In
later years, the 50's Space Gun was used as a premium
giveaway to deplete PEZ's stock. Shown in this picture
is how this premium was shipped with the 50's Space Gun,
gun permit, Golden Glow insert, and two packs of Golden
Glow candy.
