Hinge Pins

On older dispensers, the head was attached to the inner sleeve with a steel pin.  This pin allowed the head to hinge on the inner sleeve.

This picture shows how the steel hinge pin goes through the wire head spring and into the side ears of the inner sleeve.

On newer dispensers, the head is attached to the inner sleeve by two plastic pins molded on each outer side of the inner sleeve. This allows the head to hinge on the inner sleeve.   These pins are actually more of a spud or nub than a "pin".  Unlike the steel pin that went all the way through the head and inner sleeve, the plastic pins allows the head to "pop" onto the inner sleeve and hold it in place.
